A good way.
For everyone.
Building With Purpose
Using Construction as a mechanism for transformational change.
By putting every effort to have you and your community's needs and desires integrated into the design and building process, we are committed to pursuing purposeful work with lasting impact.
There's a better way.
This is a matter of ethos—of who we are together. It is a focus on healthy community filled with humility, humour, and care, a group of people willing to collaborate and take risks, finding solutions together.

This is a matter of results—of what we affect in our work. It is a focus on timelessness and beauty, excellence and value, a legacy we are creating together.

This is a matter of priorities—of why we do what we do. It is a focus on reasons and passion, a rise to action and a vision for change, transformation we are seeing together.

Our Partnership with Halalt
SCROLL TO HEAR THE STORY —
Halalt First Nation
In 2021, we began our journey with the Halalt Nation: a partnership that invited us to slow down, listen deeply, and consider the impact construction can have.
We're working alongside the community to listen closely and apply the right solutions ensuring the homes we provide are safe, sustainable, and reflect the overall vision of the community. This ongoing project is a marker that real progress is about trust, relationships, and building in a good way.

Collaboration rooted in Trust and Respect
We build by listening first to community voices at every step. Collaboration with Halalt continues to mean showing up with care, sharing decisions, and moving forward together. Each homeowner is invited to collaborate in making key design choices at every stage in the process, resulting in a unique home that truly feels like theirs.

The Apprenticeship Program
Citizen and Halalt entered a unique partnership with help from Vancouver Island University and Construction Foundation BC to employ, teach, and encourage members to become great carpenters and support them on their path to sustainable careers.

Stories from Members of our team
We worked with Halalt Chief and Council to identify members of their community that would benefit from deep, relational job opportunities. Apprentices are taken through robust training with all graduates working towards becoming fully certified carpenters in BC.

Leaving A Legacy
Together with RJC Engineering, we presented a canoe to the community as a legacy gift to support the dream of a youth program that follows in the footsteps of the Elders of the nation.
